Job Summary
The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Communications team is looking for a Director, Business Communications to reinforce the brand and culture in our organization. In this key leadership role, you will be a professional leading the day-to-day Business Communications functions for the Club, which is an essential element of our business. The Director, Business Communications, working closely with the SVP of Communications and Broadcasting, will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communications efforts in support of all Pirates business, community and fan experience initiatives.
The ideal candidate is an experienced storyteller with an understanding of identifying storylines and assisting with all aspects of driving a narrative for the brand.
In this position, you will serve as the point person for working cross functionally to provide needed counsel and set strategies and priorities for communications support for marketing, ticket sales, corporate partnerships, ballpark operations, special events and all other business units. In addition, you will work closely with the Pirates People and Culture department to develop and execute effective internal communications programs to advance the internal culture.
This position will also be responsible for the management of the editorial process for Pirates publications, including all freelance writers, as well as supplying editorial content for various Pirates publications. The ideal candidate must have confidence in dealing with the members of the media, as well as a willingness to take initiative and assume activities associated with communicating the Pirates organization's key messages
Responsibilities
Primary:
• Develop, manage and execute external key stakeholder communications, including general fans, ticket holders, corporate partners and internal audiences.
• Provide strategic counsel to departmental leadership teams.
• Assist in the development of overall key messages to help drive the organizational narrative.
• Prepare internal talking points for sales, marketing, operations and other business units.
• Act as Pirates ''News Desk'' lead to identify, prioritize, develop and execute story ideas that drive the desired Club narrative.
• Draft press releases, media advisories, event remarks and other written deliverables.
• Manage and execute the editorial process for publications.
• Partner with MLBAM to assist in Pirates.com editorial process, including driving content ideas.
• Responsible for coordinating, or assisting the SVP, Communications & Broadcasting in carrying out non-baseball related interviews and events at PNC Park and/or involving the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. including player/front office personnel interviews at community events, press conferences, and special media requests.
• Work closely with the People and Culture team in developing content and messaging for all internal communications.
• Responsible for managing, assembling and writing homestand and community-related notes to be distributed throughout the season.
• Daily media monitoring of local television and radio broadcast news.
Secondary:
• Assist in the coordination of baseball-related media requests.
• Assist media relations department in all gameday duties as needed.
• Assist in the planning and execution of charitable and community programs and events.
