Christ Fellowship is a dynamic, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church. We are looking for a Communications Director to build on our strong foundation and help expand our outreach in our community and improve our internal communications to help more people find and follow Christ. As one church, with services in two languages, we are looking for someone who has a passion for and experience in working in cross-cultural ministry and unifying teams.
This position is responsible for developing and executing a strategic communications plan encompassing all ministries and activities of Christ Fellowship campuses. The scope includes internal staff communications, church-wide communications, and communications to the community. This position is key to Christ Fellowship achieving its mission and vision through provision of effective communication elements that are aligned with overall church direction.
This is a bilingual-preferred, full-time, salaried, exempt position. As such, the employee is expected to manage their workload and time with their supervisor. A typical workweek for this position is 40-50 hours, with the expectation that most of the work will occur in the office during regular business hours. Regular presence is expected at all worship services and church-wide events.
Working Relationships
Reports to the Executive Pastor of Vision; works closely with other ministry leaders and worship pastors; maintains positive relationships with the media, community leaders, and outside vendors; supervises the communications team; and establishes, manages, and supports ministry volunteers/teams in addressing responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the communications team and Christ Fellowship Staff to accomplish the vision and mission of the church in a cross-cultural environment.
Maintain and oversee implementation of communications strategy and guidelines that align with and support Christ Fellowship’s identity, vision, and ministry objectives.
Serve as primary content manager for church; oversee editing/proofing process; ensure guidelines and best practices are followed across all media and ministries to ensure quality standards are met.
Provide creative direction and communications/marketing leadership to all Christ Fellowship ministries as they seek to effectively reach and communicate with specific people-groups.
Provide leadership and strategic direction based on an awareness of current trends in advertising and design.
Collaborate with the Spanish Campus to ensure that the integrity of Christ Fellowship’s brand and identity of being “one church, two languages” is effectively carried out.
Create and maintain a collaborative, empowering, and constructive environment, allowing creativity and strategy to thrive in the Communication department.
Maintain up-to-date list of marketing outreach outlets, contacts, and information pertaining to how they are used.
Manage relationships with vendors (directly and indirectly) to ensure the marketing outreach projects are completed and delivered on schedule.
Maintain and improve the historical filing system for internal communications, significant and repetitive promotion plans, and marketing outreach activities; including items from print media.
Direct event/ministry promotion through participation in planning/creative processes and implementation of promotion milestone systems/processes (internal and external).
Develop and oversee an annual marketing outreach (external advertising/communications) plan and budget in support of overall church direction and ministries.
Oversee/implement production of all-church internal communications; including but not limited to video production, photography team management, service-supporting slides/graphics, weekly service communications, study guides, promotional items, signage, and special reports/letters.
Oversee/implement graphic arts support for communication elements requiring design expertise such as print ads, brochures, logos, and other ministry-support graphics.
Ensure web content and mobile app content in English and Spanish is technologically effective, with content reflecting the vision/direction and messaging of the church; ensure content is timely, effective, and professional.
Maintain proper presentation of information and signage for regular church attendees and visitors.
Manage multiple projects in a timely fashion, sorting priorities.
Perform financial oversight for assigned budgets in a manner reflecting good stewardship.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Specific Skills/Strengths
Fluent in English and Spanish written and verbal communication, preferred.
Strong copywriting, graphic design, and project management skills.
Working knowledge of Adobe programs (i.e. InDesign, Photoshop, and Lightroom) and website and mobile app implementation and management.
Excellent attention to detail with tenacity and ability to produce quality work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
A high level of emotional and social intelligence with the ability to form nurturing and good working relationships cross-culturally.
Experience/Education Desired
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years working experience in a related field.
Educated about and familiar working with Brand Guidelines and Style Guides.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This person must be able to exchange accurate information when working with others, think critically and act logically to evaluate situations, solve problems, and make sound decisions. They must be able to work at a desk operating a computer and other office equipment, at least 50 percent of the time, as well as move about the facility to meet with people and access files, other information, operate office machinery, etc. He/she must also be able to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver it (i.e. twist, push, pull, etc.) and be able to move heavy loads by hand and other similar actions occasionally as needed.
