Responsibilities
We are looking for an Innovation Portfolio Strategy Advisor to join Rev Lab, the strategic innovation and execution arm of Humana Military's business transformation function. The Innovation Portfolio Strategy Advisor will report to the Director, Business Transformation, Strategy, and Clinical Innovation while working in a highly matrixed environment, engaging cross-functional teams across the entire Humana Government Business organization.
This team of three works in a way that is not 'business as usual,' using entrepreneurial skills and an experimental mindset to get to the commercial truth about disruptive market opportunities.
Challenging themselves and the organization, working as a team, the innovation advisors are expected to learn as much as possible as fast as possible, using quick iterative experiments and share their findings about these emerging opportunities with a governing board on a quarterly basis, providing recommendations to senior executives regarding business strategy.
While knowledge of the military health market may be useful, this is not a requirement. Instead, we are looking for innovators and change agents across a variety of disciplines. Expertise is preferred in at least one of the following areas:
Commercial: Strong communicator with business development, sales and/or marketing orientation, and good commercial contacts
Technical/ Builder: Understands how things work, supporting the team in the technical development of MVP's /potential solutions
Insights: Driven by the customer, their behaviors, motivations and needs. Able to design, develop and execute customized research
This will be a high profile, high impact opportunity that's exciting, often uncertain, and very rewarding.
Objectives for this role:
Develop opportunities for new revenue streams and generate passion around this vision
Continuously synthesize learnings to determine and collaborate on the path forward
Utilize best practices in ethnography, research, prototyping, and experimentation
Be a champion for the innovation process and clearly and effectively role model entrepreneurial behaviors
Report to the Opportunity Area Executive Sponsor and Humana Military Growth Board on progress and hurdles; track investment milestones and funding requirements; make a business case for strategic recommendations
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leverage startup methodologies to unearth deep consumer insights
Rapidly test and validate the customer problem, potential solution and related business models
Use contemporary market sizing and business modeling techniques to effectively determine the market opportunity
Develop plans and business models to create a scalable business opportunities
Required Qualifications
Our Department of Defense contract requires U.S. Citizenship
Bachelor's degree
4 - 8 years of experience in marketing, innovation, Agile, business strategy, product development, and/or sales development in a corporation or startup
Proven track record of launching an idea internally or externally that required synthesis of disparate points of view/ insights/data and creating a cohesive narrative, plan and outcome
Prior experience in working directly with consumers/customers and running experiments, in-market testing, and understanding what is required to launch the product
Proven success in breaking down complex problems into hypotheses, developing clear plans for validation, and using data in order to refine concepts
Superior interpersonal, presentation and communication skills across all levels of senior management, including the executive levels
Able to translate technical/entrepreneurial jargon making it actionable & clear
Proven ability to challenge the status quo and drive innovation, totally comfortable operating in ambiguous and unregimented environments
Highly motivated and action-oriented with strong problem solving and analytical skills

Work-At-Home Requirements
