B&D seeks a proactive, organized Marketing Assistant to help plan and execute client seminars, webinars, and social events; track firm sponsorship/event deliverables and follow-ups/outcomes; maintain the firm’s InterAction client relationship management database; use Vuture email marketing/event management software; and provide general marketing and business development assistance (including, for example, website updates and assistance with news alert production).
The Marketing Assistant primarily supports B&D’s Senior Marketing & Events Coordinator and ultimately reports to the firm’s Director of Business Development & Marketing Operations. This role has high visibility within the firm, particularly with the firm’s lawyers, and substantial interaction with external contacts. The position has firm-wide responsibility and may be located in any city in which the firm has an office, with a preference for Washington, DC.
This position is a great opportunity for an eager, aspiring legal marketer to learn, quickly build their skillset, and develop in a professional environment.
Position Details and Responsibilities
Events:
Event support includes researching venues, preparing and sending invitations, posting event details on B&D’s website, tracking event attendance and corresponding with attendees, preparing event materials (e.g., PowerPoint slides, attendee folders, and nametags), maintaining an inventory of giveaway items, making A/V arrangements, providing day-of support, and assisting with event follow-up.
Events include conferences (both firm-hosted and those with firm participation or sponsorship), tradeshows, roundtables, social and sporting events, and increasingly, webinars. A constant stream of events requires dealing with overlapping deadlines and deliverables, adhering to effective internal processes, and managing events both remotely and in-person (eventually, once safe).
InterAction:
The InterAction component requires daily attention to database changes and a broader perspective on how the firm can better use the database in support of its client relationships. This includes implementing effective processes for tracking/updating contacts and activities and communicating these to firm users, overseeing data quality and maintenance, issue-spotting/troubleshooting, analytics, and working with the firm’s Information Technology Department to enhance the overall utility of InterAction to the firm.
Vuture:
The Vuture component involves keeping apprised of software updates and best practices, creating and improving email marketing templates, and maximizing the software’s data analytics capabilities.
General Marketing Support:
The Assistant also provides general support/assistance/backup to lawyers and the Marketing team firm-wide on marketing communications and collateral, website and social media, PR, news alerts and other thought leadership, business development/pitches, and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
The Marketing Assistant will excel in this role by obsessing over details, remaining flexible and calm under pressure, following through on projects and requests in a timely fashion, embracing technology to support events, looking for opportunities of improvement, and inspiring enthusiasm and collaboration by lawyers and staff on marketing events.
To succeed in this role, an individual must be able to perform the responsibilities above and have the required skills and qualifications below, which are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. B&D will make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions of the job.
