Title: Associate Art Director, Print & Marketing
Reports to: Art Director
Location: New York Office
Overview:
Associate Art Director possessing strong concept and design skills with an elevated aesthetic.
The candidate will be responsible for seasonal and monthly print concept and design.
Assuring deliverables are engaging, relevant, thoughtful and inspiring.
The candidate will concept and execute against seasonal mailers, look books, gifting ideas, apparel packaging and monthly exclusives and partnerships. This director will own the design ecosystem, integration and execution of these rollout.
The Associate Art Director will be tasked with creating and developing clear and concise deks for monthly windows and in-store activations. Executing against brand creative, marketing and merchandising needs.
Applicants must have a solid understanding of design principles and the J.Crew aesthetic, with the ability to push forwards naturally.
The creative candidate will have sophisticated taste and be an expert in branding, print, finishes and graphic design.
Responsibilities & Skills:
*Collaborate, brainstorm and deliver thoughtful concepts to and with the
Art Director and VP Brand Creative.
*Own print overviews, presenting clear, captivating, thoughtful monthly content drops to the VP of Brand Creative. Design thoughtfully, assuring creations will work seamlessly into digital. Download the digital design team and collaborate to assure the visual language stays tight or can pivot for synchronicity up stream if needed.
*The candidate will be highly competent at partnering with members of the wider
Brand Creative team including, Strategists, Marketing, Copywriters, Stylists, In-house Photographers, Project management, Sourcing and Production. Communicating ideas effectively and editing astutely.
*Partner with window creative to produce engaging font of store displays that capture the quarterly message and directive.
*Shoot into still life for exclusive product launches. Attend local store shoots with ability to remotely art direct shoots further afield.
*Research and be abreast of exciting partners for out of the box visual activations.
*Maintaining elevated visual standards. Continue enhancing the tone & aesthetic across design and brand through sophisticated typography treatments and elevated material use across three-dimensional design.
*Design with an understanding of seasonal budgets and impact to the timely ecosystem of rollouts.
*Flexible team player with creative problem solving and excellent communication skills.
*Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to activate, multi-task and prioritize or delegate workload, taking responsibility for personal and team deadlines.
*Assure retouching team & colorists carry out cosmetic alterations and color accuracy for both
on-figure and still life imagery. Perform Print checks before going to press.
*Must be detail orientated.
Qualifications & Programs:
*The candidate will need 6+ years of experience in the creative field.
*BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential functions of the role.
*Proficiency with Adobe Suite, Photoshop, InDesign. Illustrator.
