Job Description:
As Shell New Energies grows its activities in Renewable Power, we are recruiting into our Global Growth & Partnerships (GGP) team, which sits within Strategic Business Development (SBD), to manage market development efforts in the Americas (including Latin America). The position is responsible for understanding the market, building relationships with key stakeholders, representing Shell’s commercial perspectives with respect to Renewable Power, developing approaches for market access and entry, and originating partnerships in the Americas. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional with expertise in the power sector, a keen understanding of power market design/fundamentals and business models, and strong in-market commercial and/or transactional experience. The position will report to the Head of Global Growth & Partnerships and work with diverse groups internally and externally. SBD/GGP sets the commercial strategy for Shell New Energies’ Renewable Power line of business, as well as driving market development, new product development, and the identification and execution of market opportunities, globally.
What's the role?
Bring and maintain an on-the-ground expert understanding of the power/renewable power market fundamentals, market design, market demand, business models, and policy/regulatory trends in the Americas
Analyze and frame approaches for market access and entry within the renewable power sector in the Americas, in alignment with Shell’s Power objectives, and as part of Renewable Power’s strategy-setting processes
Establish and foster senior-level relationships with potential partners in the power/renewable power sector in the Americas
Represent and advocate for Shell’s commercial perspectives in Renewable Power with key government/policy, regulatory, and other stakeholders in the region, in conjunction with other Shell teams, as appropriate
Coordinate closely with key Shell counterpart groups/functions within Renewable Power, New Energies, and more broadly within Shell. Close and collaborative working relationships with the Shell country chair and country transition organizations, Strategy & Portfolio, Global Advocacy, Shell Energy, Energy Solutions, and New Fuels teams are priorities
Originate and drive partnership opportunities, in line with Renewable Power’s commercial strategy
Be a credible and compelling spokesperson for the Americas market within Renewable Power, Shell New Energies, and more broadly within Shell
Bring Americas power sector expertise, market insight, and creativity
Comfort with ambiguous, undefined, and complex situations, and ability to create structure and define/drive direction and execution activities
Manage cross-functional teams, including members of various internal groups within and outside of Shell New Energies, and complex business dimensions
Ability to synthesize complex issues and insights into high-quality, concise, focused, and persuasive presentations for diverse audiences
Contribute to reporting and other internal administrative processes

Requirements:
What we need from you
Master’s Degree in relevant discipline, ideally business and/or policy, with an MBA from top program preferred
An extensive professional experience, with substantial years in the power sector, of which a significant years is in renewable power (preferably with solar and wind power experience)
Expert understanding of the power/renewable power sector in the US and the Americas, with emphasis on policy/regulation, market design, business models, and key stakeholders
Credibility and strong professional network within the power industry in the US and the Americas
Excellent commercial acumen, with creativity/entrepreneurial approach, economic/financial understanding, and an execution mindset
Strong synthesis and presentation skills
Ability to represent Renewable Power/Shell New Energies
Ability to build and maintain relationships within a complex, global corporation: some ‘corporate stamina’ is required.
Complete fluency English, with fluency or a high level of proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese
A “team player” attitude
