Job Details:
SUMMARY: The Senior Category Marketing Manager role is responsible for partnering with the Prepared Food Service Business Units cross functional teams to execute volume growth strategies through pricing strategy and financial analytics. This position is expected to be the product cost expert for the Foodservice business. Owns understanding product cost changes including protein market impacts on raw material input costs conversion costs yields throughputs labor ingredients other variable costs fixed overhead costs and warehouse and distribution costs. Will provide cost details and bridging of changes in cost to the trade team as part of RFP pricing recommendations. The baseline understanding of costs will influence all aspects of business specific pricing and margin decisions and will ensure the basis for pricing decisions are accurate. Other responsibilities include pro-actively leading all category-related activities including RFPs SKU rationalization low margin analysis category and customer specific strategic pricing identifying cost savings initiatives gathering competitive intelligence verifying product cost drivers supporting development of long and short-term category strategies and tactics; communicate relevant issues with BU; Lead the Mexican Business Unit team to evaluate and understand any product profitability issues. Responsible for making recommendations around optimizing product assortments and discontinuing inefficient items; Work with product change projects including value quality improvement initiatives and line extension product launches; Provide recommendations to the BU organization on category strategy selling propositions and work closely with Revenue Management and Sales on category opportunities; Create formula based pricing Monitors industry trends market share product FMV competitive activity and competitive product cuttings; manages a team toward achievement of category goals and financial objectives. Candidates should be comfortable working with cross-functional project teams that include Trade R D Sales Finance Supply Chain and Marketing functional support. Can manage large numbers of complex projects simultaneously with a proven track record of customer focus both internal and external.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor s degree in accounting finance economics or other business-related fields; MBA preferred.
Experience: 8 plus years’ experience in finance or category management
Computer Skills: Proficient in Excel Word and PowerPoint
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Special Skills: Knowledge of foodservice and or CPG industry preferred; Strong financial acumen; Strong cost pricing and general business management skills; Ability to assess the skills and developmental needs of subordinates and provide appropriate coaching and guidance; Proven leadership skills with the ability to create and articulate a vision and drive results; Strong analytical and problem solving skills with sound expertise in financial modeling; Ability to excel as a cross functional leader in a fast paced changing environment.
Supervisory: Position will supervise direct reports that perform somewhat identical and related tasks
Travel: 1-4 Domestic trips per year
