Humana's The Hive is looking for a Senior Copy Writer to join the team! The Hive is Humana's in-house agency, a creative collective built exclusively to support the business and the brand. We are responsible for creative content development across all media and enterprise brand identity management for a diverse portfolio of Humana brands. Our core purpose is to create compelling brand expression and cohesive consumer experiences that enhance brand perception, build trust, and influence choice.
Responsibilities
The Senior Copy Writer role is a critical conceptual thinker and leader within the Hive's agile pod operating model. They are responsible for the development of strategic creative for marketing campaigns, individual growth and team coaching within the copywriting function, and managing the brand voice and verbal expression across both master brands, Humana and CenterWell. The Senior Copy Writer uses creative writing expertise, business and brand insights, and analysis of moderately complex situations or data to recommend creative and strategic solutions for print, digital and environmental applications. This is a nationwide remote position.
Key Role Functions
Strengthen consumer perception and corporate reputation by ensuring consistent, accurate use of the brand identity across all internal and external communications
Collaborate with agency team to develop creative briefs, provides art direction to the team and external agency partners, and present strategic concepts to internal marketing partners
Translate business and brand objectives into creative strategy for brand identity systems and integrated marketing campaigns
Ensure brand consistency, campaign continuity, and creative quality within assigned agile pod as well as adjacent lines of business
Develops creative content for all media including print, digital, social, video, and environmental applications
Accountable for the creative development process from concept through final implementation
Foster a collaborative creative culture and provide constructive critique that elevates outcomes
Negotiate daily creative priorities and ensure the right resources are aligned to projects
Proactively communicate progress against budget and schedule requirements.
Advise on relevant industry trends and establish creative development best practices
To be successful in this role, you are a strategic writer with proven ability to write original copy for marketing campaigns and oversee all aspects of translating brand voice and managing the verbal identity across a broad portfolio. You must be able to lead people and process to build dynamic brand identity systems and deliver exceptional creative that enhances brand value. Ultimately, you are a brand advisor and creative catalyst who will build a collaborative culture with the agency team, internal business and marketing partners, and external agencies.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Advertising, or a related field of study
An industry-competitive portfolio that demonstrates a strong mastery of developing strategic concepts and strong headline copy
(Portfolio must be submitted with application to be considered. Include a maximum of 5 work samples which best demonstrate your skills)
5 years of professional creative development experience in an agency environment
Proficiency with Agile methodologies
Advanced conceptual and technical skills, and acute attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to independently advance the creative development process, facilitate collaboration, and provide constructive critique
Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to lead with influence at all levels of the company
Proven ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Proficiency with industry standard design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office software
Effective time and resource management
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading a creative team
Healthcare industry experience
Active participant in marketing/creative industry professional communities

All Humana associates approved for the Home or Hybrid Home/Office work styles are required to self-provide wireless, wired cable or DSL access to the internet at the connectivity speeds required by the company to successfully perform their job with the exception of associates who live or work from home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota. To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:
At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended to support Humana applications, per associate.
Wireless, Wired Cable or DSL connection is suggested.
Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if they provide an optimal connection for associates. The use of these methods must be approved by leadership. (See Wireless, Wired Cable or DSL Connection in Exceptions, Section 7.0 in this policy.)
Humana will not pay for or reimburse Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates for any portion of the cost of their self-provided internet service, with the exception of associates who live or work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota. Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
