Position Purpose
What’s the role –
The Market Development Manager – Light Alcohols – (HODer) Higher Olefins and Derivatives position is a highly impactful role supporting our future sustainability offerings and growth agenda in driving differentiation to the portfolio. Shell Chemicals’ value proposition has been consistent for over 20 years and based on high quality products, reliably delivered by a professional team of people at a fair price. The landscape has shifted significantly in the last several years and customers are demanding sustainable products which will likely transform the marketplace. A core element of Chemicals & Products (C P) strategy is also to grow differentiated products and value propositions where Shell can realize higher returns. The role will support the Marketing Manager in developing these new CVPs embracing sustainability, growing differentiated products in Detergents and Light Alcohols, and further developing opportunities for future growth projects in C P.
The key accountabilities of this role:
Lead efforts in populating and maintaining light alcohol growth funnel along with renewable product opportunities.
Partner with Sales to identify new target customers and opportunities to develop into future sales.
Own new market and business development (NMBD) process for new HODer product offerings.
Liaise with Product Managers (PMs) to establish renewable CVPs for HODer products in the Americas.
Coordinate with PMs and Market Fundamentals on establishing pricing handrails for new offerings and in year negotiated pricing.
Support evaluation of aspired portfolio ambitions and markets to ensure value maximization for the HODer business.
Skills & Requirements
What we need from you –
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
Bachelor's Degree required with 5 or more years of proven marketing and commercial experience in a B2B setting
Strong leadership skills as evidenced by ability to communicate, influence without direct authority, and leverage diverse views
High curiosity and external focus
Understanding of market fundamentals
Development of new and creative value propositions
Ability to work cross functionally (Manufacturing, Supply, P&T, Sales) to grow differentiated products
Strong project management skills
Strong analytical skills
Strong marketing capacity to drive growth and take managed risks
Previous experience in Light Alcohols market highly desired
