Against that backdrop, we are seeking a talented marketing professional for the newly-created position of Director, Market Strategy & Activation. In this role you will oversee B2C marketing efforts that will support Humana's business goals at the local market level. This will require you to work intimately with local market leadership to understand the dynamics and nuances of each local market, and then collaborate with them and other functional areas to design multi-channel campaigns that align with those local characteristics. The predominant focus of these campaigns will be on provider affiliation and product marketing, but some campaigns will also target member acquisition and retention.
The Director, Market Strategy & Activation will report directly to the Associate Vice President of Market Strategy and Sales Enablement, and will lead a 12-person team with four direct reports. While Louisville, KY is the preferred location, we are happy to consider other major cities for strong candidates.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Partner with sales and operations partners to develop marketing strategies by assessing local trends, consumer and market information
Implement marketing plan, collaborating with the Retail Marketing team and agency partners in the development of marketing tactics and media plans
Develop and maintain relationships with sales and operations leadership within the regions gaining alignment initiatives to support business goals.
Develop reporting framework to analysis and reporting of the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, tracking against defined marketing goal
Develop market strategy planning framework for planning and marketing tactics across product, provider, sales and community engagement - recommend strategic direction
Elevate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns in order to continuously learn from marketing efforts and improve future campaigns
Candidate Qualifications
In general terms, the successful candidate will have broad and diverse marketing leadership experience in multiple environments, including B2C, B2B, digital, and marketing through third-party partners. He/she will have the ability to understand the business and specific market needs, to mine consumer insights from data, and develop solid marketing plans that meet those needs. The Director will have a degree in Marketing or a related field (Bachelor's required; MBA preferred) and a clear track record of success in team leadership and in expanding and elevating the capabilities and performance of the team.
In addition to the above, the following technical qualifications and personal attributes are also sought:
Expertise in traditional and advanced marketing tactics, performance analytics, and the ability to think conceptually and strategically with a high level of influence on the tactical execution of marketing efforts.
Extensive experience (typically at least 8 years) in building and executing highly impactful multi-channel marketing strategies
Solid analytics skills, including marketing test and learn expertise, data analytics acumen, and the ability to identify actionable insights and translate them into winning marketing strategies and campaigns
A record of success in attracting, developing, and motivating top talent from inside and outside of the organization, preparing direct reports for expanded responsibilities, and expanding and elevating the capabilities and performance of their team.
Experience managing external vendors/agency partners
Excellent oral/written communications and presentation skills, including the polish, poise, and executive presence that will ensure effective interaction with senior and executive level audiences
Highly collaborative mindset and excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to engage many diverse stakeholders and SMEs, and influence and win their co-ownership in outcomes
Outstanding, demonstrated leadership and management of cross-functional projects and initiatives
Experience with leading a field marketing team through localized application of high-impact market activities
Proven ability to thrive in a high-growth and highly fluid environment, and to pivot effortlessly to meet rapidly changing priorities and market dynamics
