As it turns out, there's some truth to it all.
Born in Dallas Texas, Fisher attended Texas Tech University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. While at college in 1980 she also posed in Playboy's Girls of the Southwest Conference pictorial, a fact the magazine's website is now capitalizing on. Her film career then began in 1992 during which she starred in the romantic thriller Intimate Obsession which is, admittedly, soft-core pornography. Fisher's film career spans the next decade with other thrilling romances and low-budget horror flicks, coming to a head in the late nineties followed by a break until 2007 when she appeared in NBC's reality dating show Age of Love as a ''cougar'' after the affection of a young man who is surprised to find his possible matches range in age from 21 to 48. Dreamy bachelor Mark Philippoussis eliminated her in the first episode to which she had said on an NBC morning show that Philippoussis, ''seems to be a real gentleman.'' Also, in 2009, Fisher landed a two-line role in Easy Rider: The Ride Back, a film listed as one of her favorites on her Facebook profile. As an actress, no one has a bad thing to say about her, citing her professionalism, punctuality and amiability.
Beyond her Hollywood career, Fisher is a mother and a businesswoman. In a statement from the Law Offices of Allred, Moroko, & Goldberg, the firm representing her, her attorney Gloria Allred states that Fisher worked as a ''successful salesperson for a Fortune 500 company'' as well as ''on the House select Committee on Narcotics Abuse and Control'' and was ''recently the vice president of a commercial real estate company.''
Fisher was interviewed for the position of marketing contractor with HP in 2007 which is also when she first met Hurd. Fisher describes her position as being ''under contract to work at high-level customer and executive summit events held around the country and abroad.'' Drumming up business and customer interest by building strong relationships with the customers were the objectives of her work. Over the course of her two year stint with HP, she came to embrace her job, "I prepared for those events, worked very hard and enjoyed working for HP."
After filing a sexual harassment claim against former CEO of HP, Fisher is surprised he was forced to resign, stating, ''That was never my intention.'' Fisher and Hurd, according to her attorney's press statement, had come to an agreement about the claim ''without litigation'' already. Though the claim is sexual in nature, and her attorney, Allred, specializes in harassment and discrimination cases, Fisher claims that she and Hurd's relationship was not sexual in nature and according to Hewlett Packard, in investigating Hurd, they found''no violation of HP's sexual harassment policy, but did find violations of HP's Standards of Business Conduct.'' Fisher has elected to make no further comments on the situation at this time.
Fisher's history is one of the pursuit of careers in both business and Hollywood which it seems she has smartly balanced. Her R-rated filmography is no different from the start of many well-known actresses and a pictorial in Playboy is something for which some of the most famous today strive. What Fisher has on those starlets is her background in business. What a woman as diverse and surprising as Jodie Fisher chooses to do from here is anyone's guess.
