According to Fortune, AT&T is preparing to offer a subsidy of $200 for the Apple iPhone, which is currently priced at $399. The overall price for the phone, then, would be $199. The subsidy will only be applicable, however, if the buyer signs up for a two-year contract with AT&T. Furthermore, the subsidy will reportedly only be available at AT&T stores and not in Apple stores. That said, some analysts think that the news is just a rumor, while others seem to believe its veracity. Meanwhile, the anonymous Fortune blogger reports that the new 3G iPhone will be 2.5 mm thinner than the current model and will feature a GPS tracking system. The new model is expected to be unveiled on the iPhone’s first anniversary — i.e., around June 27 of this year.
