PayPal, eBay's electronic payment service, has denied through a statement that it plans to block Apple's Safari web browser, although it has previously said that it would block access of unsafe browsers to their site. Apple Safari does not have any anti-phishing capabilities and does not support Extended Validation (EV), the two components PayPal expected from the software. Hence, market rumors have had it that the online payment gateway provider might end up blocking Safari unless Apple adds the required attributes. ''We have absolutely no intention of blocking current versions of any browsers, including Apple's Safari, from our website,'' a company spokeswoman said in an email. Apple currently supports Safari 3.0 and Safari 2.0, the version which was shipped with Mac OS X 10.4 machines and which is also known as ''Tiger.''
