Best Buy will offer Windows XP Home installation with a new Asus Eee PC 4G laptop, starting April 9 in the U.S. The package will cost around $399, according to recent media reports. That price is the same as that for the Linux version of the laptop. The specifications of the mini-notebook PC include a 4GB SSD hard drive with 512 MB of RAM. Analysts state that the hard disk space might be slightly insufficient for running Windows XP OS and the additional preloaded applications, which take up more than 1.8 GB of disk space. Asus is considering bundling the 4G card to redress the hard disk space shortage, although no confirmation of that plan has been made as of yet.
