AT&T has announced that it will provide subscribers with two mobile TV channels which will be introduced on two new phones scheduled to be released in May. The mobile TV will be powered by Qualcomm’s MediaFLO system and other international service providers. The two handsets, LG’s Vu and Samsung’s Access, and the service will finally be available simultaneously in May, following several months of delay. Analysts have speculated as to whether the delay was due to technical reasons or to weakening consumer demand caused by patchy network coverage. Mark Collins, VP of consumer data for AT&T’s wireless unit, said, “AT&T Mobile TV is a powerful new mobile entertainment offering, which will give our customers a formidable lineup of sports, news, and prime-time shows.”
