Bob Osher has been named president of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s digital production division, succeeding Yair Landau, who left the post last week for a new games-animation venture. The appointment has helped dispel concerns that the division will be dismantled after Landau’s exit. Osher joined the company as COO of Columbia Pictures in 2004. “Bob’s experience in production and finance, along with his strong background in animation, make him qualified to lead our Digital Production division,” said SPE’s chairman and CEO, Michael Lynton, about his belief in Osher’s abilities and future role in the company’s growth. Additionally, Hannah Minghella, who is currently the director of creative affairs, will become the president of production at Sony Pictures Animation. Minghella and Tim Sarnoff, president of Imageworks, will be reporting to Osher.
