Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) has named Ken Taylor president and general manager of the General Motors Planworks unit, following the resignation of Dennis Donlin from the post last week. Mr. Taylor was earlier the executive vice president of Starcom USA, where he was the lead executive for Kellogg’s and LEGO’s media accounts. The move follows the integration of GM Planworks, which had been a stand-alone unit since its inception in 2000, into the SMG operation. The revamped company is designed to give broader access to all of SMG’s resources, company sources said. “The new approach is multifaceted, highly digital, and strategically aligned with our corporate objectives,” said Laura Desmond, CEO-The Americas for SMG. “It delivers the best of the stand-alone unit while remaining connected to the core of SMG.”
