Ray Ozzie, Microsoft’s chief software architect spoke about the company’s cautious policy in attempting integration of technologies with Yahoo! after the merger stating that “applications need to be refactored.” Ozzie told the Financial Times, “Technology companies, if they dive in and just smash things together for smashing them together’s sake, it’s reckless, it’s just simply reckless,” Yahoo! has its own technology platform and its own work ethic, Ozzie said. Many analysts also second Ozzie’s opinion saying that Microsoft should not rush into the deal and create discord between the companies. Sources reveal that investors are more concerned about Microsoft’s course of action after acquiring Yahoo!, whether it would do any good for Yahoo! or not, rather than the price and proxy fights which might affect shareholder value during acquisition.
