Intel Corp. has unveiled a new brand of ultra-small chips that are designed for mobile Internet devices (MIDs) and other low-cost platforms. The newly arrived brand, named Atom, comprises two variants (previously codenamed Silverthorne and Diamondville) and is expected to launch by mid-2008. Additionally, the chip-maker has introduced an Intel Centrino Atom processor aimed specifically at MIDs. Intel is renowned for its brand marketing campaigns which have inspired various hardware marketers to use Intel logos to market their products. The most famous of such promotions has been the ''Intel Inside'' campaign, which dates back to the 1990s.
