The triumvirate of the world’s famous web browsers — Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, and Mozilla Firefox — is finally on the brink of a breakup, with Netscape Navigator set to exit on March 1. AOL has officially announced that it will no longer support Netscape, signaling the end of the once mighty web browser. Netscape burst onto the scene over a decade ago, securing 90% of the web browser market at one point. Presently, however, its market share is less than 1%. Firefox, on the other hand, is celebrating 500 million + downloads and is closing in quickly on Internet Explorer, which for now remains the number one browser in the world. The new Firefox 3 promises to be the best Firefox offering yet, boasting of more than 1,300 improvements from the earlier version.
