Nearly 43% of America's Internet users (approximately 80 million people) have watched at least one of their favorite TV shows online. This number is up by 18% compared to last year, according to the Digital Life America tracking study, which is conducted once every three months by Solutions Research Group. About 1,150 Americans aged above 12 were interviewed to capture a realistic scenario of multi-platform TV viewing. 20% of the viewers stated that they watched TV online weekly, and 14% said that they follow cable video-on-demand offerings. Among the major network sites, abc.com received the highest user experience score, followed by fox.com. Major network TV shows included Heroes, Grey's Anatomy, Dancing with the Stars, and Ugly Betty. About 25% of prime-time viewing was time-shifted, with DVR being the most preferred means of time-shifting, especially for skipping commercials.
