Social networking site MySpace will allow third-party developers to pre-register for the MySpace Developer Platform, which is scheduled to go live on February 5. Programmers can sign up on the site to receive information about its developer platform program. The site, once live, will provide application programming interface (API) tools to programmers with which they can build and test applications for MySpace. This tool provides developers with open APIs and makes it possible for them to earn revenue from those applications. The move follows a similar program by rival Facebook, which already has nearly 15,000 third-party applications.
