Yahoo! Inc. announced the support for OpenID 2.0 digital identity framework, which allows its members to use one login to enter any number of applicable websites. Starting January 30th, Yahoo! members will be able to use an existing Yahoo! login and password to access a non-Yahoo! site that has signed up with OpenID. Currently, Yahoo! has 248 million registered users and with OpenID, the total number will increase to 368 million. Yahoo! users will have the added protection of Yahoo!’s sign-in seal while they surf the web. Yahoo! is partnering with Plaxo and JanRain to make the functionality work right from day one.
