Marketers who plan big advertising campaigns during the Oscars are now mulling over alternative plans in light of the recent scrapping of the Golden Globes awards. Facing the ripples of the writers' strike, the Golden Globe Awards ceremony has been replaced with a one-hour ''press conference'' that will announce the winners. This has forced advertisers to analyze their options to come up with contingency plans in case the Oscars are canceled or scaled back. However, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that the Oscars will go on as scheduled (February 24). The Academy Awards are considered the second-biggest advertising night of the year after the Super Bowl.
