Email marketing is set to grow from $1.2 billion in 2007 to $2.1 billion in 2012, according to JupiterResearch's ''US E-mail Marketing Forecast, 2007 to 2012'' report. The report also predicts that spending on retention email would more than double through 2012 and account for more than half of total email marketing spending by then. Acquisition email will face a slower growth, with sponsorships such as ad-supported newsletters accounting for most spending. The report also predicts that although spam volumes will continue to rise, their reach to consumers will remain flat due to the continued efforts by Internet service providers (ISPs) to block spam messages.
