An estimated $40 million have been spent on political TV ads in Iowa for this caucus cycle, three times the amount spent in 2004, according to a CNN report. This accounts for about $17 per voter, $150-$200 per expected caucus-goer, and nearly $500,000 for each of the state's 82 delegates in a contest. An analysis by Campaign Media Analysis Group (CMAG) revealed that more than 50,000 spots have aired in Iowa through December 29. From the Democratic side, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois spent more than $9 million on close to 11,000 spots, while Republican Mitt Romney spent close to $7 million for 8,500 spots.
