YouTube, a Google company, has hired Chris Di Cesare to head its new marketing division. Previously, as director of creative marketing with Microsoft for 12 years, Di Cesare helped the company launch Xbox and Xbox 360. According to reports on Google news, having helped create the hugely successful viral campaign "I love bees," for the launch of the videogame Halo 2, Di Cesare has demonstrated a sound understanding of viral campaigns. These campaigns are especially valuable to YouTube, which features content submitted by its viewers. Di Cesare also led the successful launch of Halo 3, a video game from Microsoft, which eventually beat records set by Spider Man 3 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. YouTube was taken over by Google in 2006 for $1.65 billion in stock.
