Coke Announces New CEO

Coca-Cola Co. has announced Muhtar Kent as the new chief executive officer, who will replace Neville Isdell, effective July 1, 2008. Kent currently serves as president and chief operating officer of the company. Kent joined Coca-Cola in 1978 and held a variety of marketing and operational roles. He was named president of Coca-Cola International in January 2006 and was appointed president and chief operating officer of the company in December 2006. In his role as COO, he was instrumental in the Coca-Cola $4.1 billion acquisition of Glaceau Vitaminwater and the $590 million purchase of a Philippines bottler this year. Isdell will continue his position as the chairman of the board until the company's annual meeting of shareowners in April 2009.
