Top executives from global brands have come together to launch a corporate blog called The Blog Council. The blog describes itself as a vendor-free environment where top corporate executives can offer advice based on past experience and develop standards-based practices. Large corporations that have significant blogs can participate in the blog council. The founding members include brand names like Cisco Systems, The Coca-Cola Company, Dell, General Motors, Microsoft, Nokia, and Wells Fargo. In multiple languages, the members can address issues such as global brand management and role of the corporate brand in a media landscape. They can also discuss ways to deal with employees' personal blogs and respond to bloggers who write about individual companies. The Blog Council is managed by GasPedal, which is run by Andy Sernovitz, founder of the Word of Mouth Marketing Association.
