Ask.Com Launches New Search Privacy Feature
Date: 12-13-2007
Web search site Ask.com has added a new privacy feature called AskEraser, which gives users the ability to conduct their search anonymously. When a user enables AskEraser, Ask.com will stop saving his/her search queries and cookie information. This information includes IP address, user ID, session ID, and the complete query text. If disabled, the search history of a user stays on Ask.com's servers for 18 months. The AskEraser link is placed at the top right of the Ask.com homepage and search results pages. It is currently active for U.S. and UK searchers and will go global in 2008.
