More than 50% of Americans plan to visit a social networking site to make purchasing decisions about holiday gifts, according to a recent survey by American Marketing Association (AMA). These respondents admitted that they would visit social networking sites to look for holiday gift ideas, hunt for upcoming holiday sales, or to download coupons. "We're seeing more consumers seeking out a chance to use social networking sites as a way to chat and share opinions on holiday gifts," said Nancy Costopulos, AMA's chief marketing officer. Additionally, one out of every three consumers said they would be more likely to buy a product or service if a certain amount of the purchase price was being donated directly to a cause or campaign.
