The best day of the week to send marketing emails is Wednesday, and best time of the day is late afternoon, revealed the eROI Q3 2007 Email Marketing Statistics. Their third quarter benchmark results revealed that Wednesday saw an average open rate of 25.4% and the average click rate of 3.9%. The second-best day was Monday, reporting an average open rate of 24.7% and a click rate of 3.1%. Supporting the fact that open and click rates do not always go hand in hand, Saturday reported the highest average click rate of 5% and the lowest open rate of 18.7%. Considering the time of the day, average click rates were reported from a low of 2.6% at 8 a.m. to a high of 6.4% at 4 p.m., while average open rates ranged from a low of 21.4% at 8 a.m. to a high of 34.1% at 5 p.m.
