Book on marketing excellence launched

A new book, CMO Thought Leaders: The Rise of the Strategic Marketer, edited by Geoffrey Precourt, explores the role of marketing in boosting the profitability of a company. The book features 15 of the world's most inspiring marketing leaders who have successfully redefined marketing for the world and for their companies. Six important lessons that were drawn from a series of interviews include putting the customer at the heart of marketing, making marketing accountable, embracing the challenges of new media, recognizing the new organizational imperatives, living a new agency paradigm, and remaining adaptable. The book is commissioned by the management consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton and the Association of National Advertisers (ANA). It was published by strategy+business Books.

Sears Holdings Corporation appoints Richard Gerstein as CMO
Sears Holdings Corporation has appointed Richard Gerstein as chief marketing officer for its subsidiary Sears, Roebuck and Co. In his new role, he will be responsible for implementing Sears's brand-marketing strategies and programs. Prior to joining Sears, Gerstein worked for Alberto Culver Beauty as global chief marketing officer and senior vice president of the U.S. business. To Sears, Gerstein brings 20 years of experience that include stints at Reflect True Custom Beauty (a Proctor & Gamble spin-off) and at Proctor & Gamble. Commenting on the new appointment, Maureen McGuire, Sears Holdings' chief marketing officer, said Gerstein would be instrumental in reconnecting with the company's loyal customers and reattracting former customers to Sears.
