Adobe Systems has announced the unveiling of a new web-based editor named Photoshop Express, which is being made available in a public beta test mode to solicit user feedback on its features. Photoshop Express is a slimmed down web version of Adobe’s best-selling image-editing software. Sources say that the company hopes to attract users of photo-hosting sites like Flickr who might want to use the software’s enhanced features for tweaking their digital photos. “It’s a solution for the everyday consumer,” Doug Mack, Adobe’s vice president of Consumer and Hosted Solutions, said. Adobe intends to offer more services to the user who pays a yearly subscription fee, including more storage, support for audio and other media, printing services, and more. Analysts state that the software is a radical departure from the company’s other image-editing programs and proves that the company can earn money through the web, too. Photoshop Express requires 2 gigabytes of hard disk space and is available here for free.
